Cost: For an estimate of charges, see the Pricing Page. Evening or Saturday Appointments and/or Travel to Extended Service Areas appointments incur an additional fee (these charges are not on the Request Appointment page). For a precise quote, please contact us.
Payment: A valid credit card is required to reserve an appointment using the online system. A $100 non-refundable booking fee is required at the time of reservation. This will be applied to the cost of your appointment and will only be refunded if we are unable to accommodate your request. Please call or email if you have any questions or difficulty with this.
Booking Fee/Cancellations: Although we understand the difficulty in choosing a time to say goodbye to a beloved family member and recognize the complexity of managing the changing condition of pets near the end of their lives, our practice is very limited in the number of appointments that we have available. Additionally, once an appointment request is submitted, this prevents us from helping another family at that time. Therefore, we now require a NON-REFUNDABLE $100 Booking fee. This fee will be applied towards the cost of the euthanasia appointment once it is completed. However, if you cancel or reschedule the requested appointment at any time, for any reason (including the pet’s passing), the Booking Fee will be charged to your credit card and NOT be refunded. Further, if you cancel the appointment the same day as the scheduled appointment, the cancellation fee would be $250.
Service Area: Please be sure to check our service area prior to scheduling, as options have recently changed and we no longer travel to some cities that were previously served (including all of Marin County). If you are located in our Extended Service Area, there will be an additional charge of $50-100 and appointment times may be further limited, so be sure to note alternate times that may work with your schedule. Feel free to contact us for prices or additional details.
Available Times:
Important: All appointments after 4 pm and anytime Saturday incur an additional $100 fee that will be added to your Estimate. (You can see this fee added to your total by checking the box for “Eve/Sat” under the “additional services” section when requesting your appointment.)
Although the times listed are the only appointments currently available, we do occasionally have cancellations freeing up a time. If you cannot find a suitable time, feel free to complete a Wait List Request. Should a time become available, we will contact you to offer that slot. (Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate same day appointments.)
Timing: Although Dr. Smith usually arrives at or very near the beginning of your scheduled time, we do need to have a 1 hour arrival window to allow for other appointments, traffic, or other unexpected delays. If for some reason, we are running later than that (which happens very rarely), we will contact you as soon as possible. For most families, the entire euthanasia appointment takes about 30-40 minutes.
Follow-up: You should receive two important emails. Soon after your request, you should get an automated reply (from Acuity Scheduling). Please keep this email as it contains an important link that will allow you to directly cancel or reschedule your appointment online (with at least 24 hours’ notice). In addition, Dr. Smith will be personally following up with you. Look for a more detailed email from him which will include some important paperwork concerning your appointment, including an Estimate and Consent Form for the procedure. (If scheduled during normal business hours, you should receive that follow up email by the end of the day). Please reply to that email and include a copy of the signed Consent Form to ensure your requested appointment time. (Be sure to check you spam/junk mail folder if you do not receive that second email. You may also add: rainbowbridgevet@gmail.com to your contacts/trusted addresses).
Requested appointment times are not guaranteed until Dr. Smith has confirmed with you via response to that 2nd follow up.
